White Marlin Invitational Tournament July 25th-29th
Dear Members: On behalf of the 2017 White Marlin Invitational Committee, I am pleased to inform you that this year's White Marlin Invitational Tournament will run from Tuesday, July 25th through Saturday, July 29th. As we enter our 48th year of hosting this event - the oldest White Marlin Tournament in the Country - we have made some changes to the format which we believe are respectful of the tournament's rich heritage while ensuring we are well positioned for 2017 and beyond. A few notable changes are: * Extra day of fishing (pick 2 of 4 fishing days from Wednesday July 26th - Saturday July 29th); * The Captain's dinner, traditionally held on Wednesday evening of tournament week, will now be on Tuesday evening (July 25th). * Tuesday night's Captain's dinner will remain a ticketed event for registered anglers, with a certain number of tickets provided with each registration. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during weigh-ins between 4:30-8 pm each day, we have food trucks for members and guests to purchase a bite to eat while enjoying a drink, watching the weigh-ins, and of course, picking up a few 2017 WMIT t-shirts! We encourage you to bring your family and friends and join your fellow club members and our guests to show-off all the wonderful offerings of our club and new club-house; * Lower registration fees, return of the blue marlin Calcutta, and new Calcutta's for smaller boats; * No entrance charge for members and guests to come to the BHMTC during the tournament. One of our goals this year has been to create a new website and utilize our social media platform to connect people with timely, accurate information. To that end, please take a moment to visit our new website (www.TheWMIT.com) which has the schedule of events, rules, Calcutta & treasure chest details, and registration information. Very shortly, the website will also have additional information posted such as local resources, registered boats and tournament history. Leading up to the WMIT, our website and social media platform (please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram: @thewmit) will serve as the primary sources of information, and during the tournament, video feeds and timely updates will be made to announce results. In the coming days, we will have an email sign-up on the website for anyone (participant, member, public, etc.) who wants to be on the WMIT email distribution list - in the meantime, please email us at email@example.com and we will add you to the distribution. In your browsing of www.TheWMIT.com and social media, you will notice the logo's and links to our current sponsors, with additional businesses being added weekly. Please support them in return for their support of the WMIT and BHMTC as a whole. I promise you that without their support, the WMIT wouldn't be possible. Many of them are club members so please thank them and support them when possible. We are just 14 weeks out from the WMIT, so please mark your calendars, and we look forward to seeing you on the water or at the club for our 48th Annual White Marlin Invitational. We have great momentum and considerable early interest from past participants as well as a number of new boats fishing. Early registration ends June 1st, so please be sure to sign your boat and crew up to benefit from the discount. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your 2017 WMIT Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Dave Ridley at (908) 963-5924. Sincerely, 2017 WMIT Committee Dave Ridley, Bill Linney, Brian McMahon, Wes Jones, Brendan Graham, John Fitzgerald, Tom Lynch, and John Tichy
